About you

You will have experience in shipping, logistics, supply chain or vessel operations and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment. With excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and a proactive approach, you will be confident managing multiple priorities and building effective relationships with customers, suppliers and operational partners.

You will be able to work flexibly outside office hours when operationally necessary and will cover weekend duty rota (typically one weekend in four)

About the Role

We are looking for a Reefer Operations Assistant to support the safe, efficient and cost-effective execution of international reefer vessel operations, from loading through voyage to discharge. The role coordinates vessels, agents, owners, brokers, surveyors, customers, suppliers and internal teams, ensuring schedules, cargo, costs and documentation are controlled and communicated accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor reefer vessel loading and discharge operations to ensure cargoes move safely, efficiently and on schedule. 
  • Prepare and manage operational and cargo documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the voyage lifecycle. 
  • Maintain regular communication with vessels, agents, brokers, surveyors, customers and internal teams, providing timely operational updates.
  • Monitor operational costs, process invoices and support accurate voyage costing and reporting. 
  • Investigate cargo and operational variances, supporting continuous improvement and loss prevention initiatives. 
  • Support the Reefer Operations Manager in delivering efficient, customer-focused vessel operations across global markets.

What we’re looking for

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience within shipping, logistics, supply chain or vessel operations
  • Collaborative team player 
  • SAP experience would be advantageous
  • Experience of working with international customers and suppliers would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of shipping documentation and cargo operations would be advantageous
