Summer Team Building Soap Box Derby Fun

On Friday 4th July, the J Marr team came together for this year’s exciting Team Building Activity, a Soap Box Derby held at the beautiful Tickton Grange.

In true British fashion, the rain made an appearance, but it didn’t dampen spirits. As teams gathered under their designated pit stop gazebos, competitive energy quickly began to build ahead of the day’s head-to-head challenges.

The day kicked off with a creative task. Each team had to come up with a team name and design their own flag. Despite some questionable early sketches, it was a battle of artistic flair between Liz’s design for ‘Finny Business’ and Kim I’s for ‘Moore’s Minions’. In the end, Finny Business took the win, placing them at the top of the leader board.

The competition continued with a variety of high-energy challenges designed to test teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking, as teams fought to climb the points table.

Then came the main event, Kart Creation. Teams scrambled for materials, each striving to build the best looking kart. ‘5 O’Clock Somewhere’ brought the sunshine with their tropical beach themed racer. With the clock ticking, everyone raced to finish their builds before the final showdown.

Helmets on and karts ready, the teams took to the track for the heats. Cheered on by their teammates, drivers competed with enthusiasm, with a few brave driver swaps along the way. No safety cars were needed, though it's safe to say no F1 recruiters were in attendance!

It all came down to the final race, where the pressure was on. After a thrilling finale, Mak-alas Mobile crossed the finish line first, thanks to the impressive driving skills of Josh B. Congratulations to the winning team!

With the races concluded, the team relaxed with a delicious chef-prepared BBQ and drinks under the open barn—a perfect end to a day full of laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition.
