J Marr’s Generous Donation Still Making a Difference at Swanland Village School Nearly Two Years Later
3rd March 2025
In 2023, J Marr made a significant contribution to Swanland Village School in Ngando, Kenya, donating 18 iPads to help enhance the learning experience for the children at the school. Nearly two years later, those iPads are still being used daily, transforming the way students learn and giving them access to resources and educational tools they would not have otherwise had.
When the donation was made, it was clear that it would be a game-changer for the school. Swanland Village school in Swanland, Kenya serves a community facing numerous challenges but was determined to provide its students with quality education despite limited resources. The iPads, a first of their kind in the area, were introduced as a way to bridge the digital divide and provide students with valuable skills for the future.
Fast forward to 2025, and the impact of J Marr’s donation is still being felt at Swanland Village School. The iPads continue to serve as vital tools in the classroom, helping students engage with educational content in a more interactive and dynamic way. From digital learning apps to online research, the iPads have opened up new possibilities for both teachers and students, allowing for a richer, more diverse learning experience.
Swanland Village School Project Leader, Ms. Flouridah Afifu, shared her gratitude: "The iPads have truly been a game-changer for our students. Not only have they enhanced our lessons, but they have also given the children a sense of pride in their school and in their learning. We're so grateful to J Marr for this incredible gift, which continues to make a difference in the lives of our students."
The iPads have not only enriched the academic experience but have also helped Swanland Village School stand out in the Ngando community. As one of the only schools in the area with access to such technology, the school is able to offer its students a level of education that is both innovative and impactful.
In addition to the iPads, J Marr's support has contributed to several other improvements at Swanland Village School, including the renovation of the Annika Playground, the installation of a rainwater harvesting system, and the rebuilding of the school's fence. These projects, alongside the ongoing use of the iPads, are part of the broader efforts to provide a well-rounded, sustainable education for the children of Swanland Village.
Looking ahead, the school remains hopeful for continued support from its generous donors, including J Marr, as it works towards its vision of self-sustainability. The goal is to ensure that Swanland Village School can continue to provide quality education for future generations and become a lasting beacon of hope in the Ngando community.
J Marr’s donation of 18 iPads in 2023 has not just changed the way students at Swanland Village School learn - it has opened up a world of possibilities, proving that even in the most challenging circumstances, a simple act of kindness can create lasting change.
