Inspiring Young Minds - A Day in London with Endike Primary Academy
21st August 2025
In July, we were delighted to once again partner with Hull & East Yorkshire Children’s University, this time to give Year 5 pupils from Endike Primary Academy an unforgettable opportunity: a day trip to London!
The purpose of these trips is simple but powerful, to broaden horizons, inspire ambition, boost confidence and self-esteem as well as bring learning to life beyond the classroom walls.
Joined by their teachers, HEY Children’s University volunteers and our own Helen Simpson and Claire Dilley, the group began their adventure with an early 7am train from Hull to King’s Cross. Excitement levels were high from the very start and continued throughout the day.
The first stop was the Science Museum, where the children immersed themselves in hands-on exhibitions from stepping onto a blockbuster film set to exploring the fascinating Pharmaceutical Lab.

The engines on display were a big hit, as Aimee told us: “Loved the engines in the Science Museum, they were amazing!”

After lunch, the children headed to Buckingham Palace, arriving just in time to see the King’s Guards on horseback a truly special sight. They then made a quick visit to No. 10 Downing Street for those all-important photos before moving on to the highlight of the afternoon, a river cruise along the Thames.
“The River cruise was fab,” said Claire. “The children made so much noise as we learnt about the different bridges in London. Even the tour guide joined in with their chants!”
The day was rounded off with plenty of sightseeing, souvenir shopping, and hopping on and off the Tube before heading back to King’s Cross for the journey home. Despite the heat, the long walks, a busy schedule, the children were still buzzing with excitement on the train back.
Osker summed it up perfectly: “A really good trip to London, best day ever!”
It was a truly memorable day for everyone involved, we are so proud to help create these opportunities that will stay with these young people for years to come.
