The Marr Group Sponsor CatZero 30in30 Challenge

27th September 2020

Last Wednesday, Danny Watson the director of sailing at CatZero embarked on his challenge of running 30 marathons in 30 days from Brighton to John O'Groats and the Marr group are delighted to sponsor him to help him meet his target of raising £30,000 for the charity!

The challenge was due to take place back in April but due to the Covid pandemic it has been delayed until now. Danny has been training extensively over the last year and started running a marathon a day on 23rd September due to finish on 22nd October in John O'Groats.

So far he has faced some hilly routes and a couple of very windy days but Danny is in good spirits and we look forward to showing our support as he passes our offices in Hessle on Friday 2nd October. It was initially planned that a number of colleagues would be able to run part of a marathon with Danny but due to the current situation we will be supporting from the roadside instead.

All sponsorship money raised will go towards the vital work of CatZero, specifically underwriting their life-changing Full Families programmes. These are currently running in Grimsby and Hull with plans to expand them, due to their success.

The Full Families supports children, young people and families approaching crisis point. This work is needed now, more than ever, as the country struggles to lift itself out of the continued global pandemic. Heightened issues with employment, isolation and vulnerability are affecting low-income families the most and will continue to do so.
